⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ENGLISH We simply do not have enough words to thank Mel and Annie for this incredible experience. From the very first contact, they were absolutely wonderful. They explained everything with patience, kindness and professionalism. Before our trip, they sent us detailed videos that made everything easy to understand and gave us confidence from day one. When we collected the motorhome, we immediately felt welcomed and cared for. Mel and Annie treated us with such warmth and kindness that they felt more like family than rental hosts. Throughout the entire trip, they were always available whenever we had a question, responding quickly and helpfully. That level of support is invaluable when travelling through remote places such as Orkney and Shetland. The motorhome was spotless and performed perfectly throughout our journey. Everything worked exactly as explained, and the collection and return process was smooth and stress-free. The motorhome was excellent, but what truly made the difference was Mel and Annie. Their kindness, support and genuine care gave us complete confidence throughout the entire trip. Thanks to Mel and Annie, we enjoyed what was truly the trip of a lifetime. We returned home with unforgettable memories, and their support, professionalism and genuine care played a huge part in making that happen. Un voyage qui vaut le détour! Vraiment magnifique. Nous remercions encore Annie et Mel pour leur gentillesse, leur disponibilité et aussi, leurs conseils avisés concernant les lieux sublimes à aller visiter. Le motorhome est vraiment bien agencé et équipé. Il ne manque rien pour partir durant plusieurs semaines. C'est vraiment le moyen idéal pour faire le tour de l'Ecosse. Le lit est vraiment confortable et permet de récupérer aisément. Tout est vraiment bien pensé à l'intérieur. D'ailleurs, sans utilisation du chauffage en fin de journée ni nuit, la capacité de gaz permet de tenir des semaines. Futurs locataires, vous pouvez vraiment partir l'esprit tranquille !! What a trip!! A huge thank you to Mel and Annie for their kindness and availability, which made our experience in beautiful Scotland truly unforgettable. Their van is very easy to drive and perfectly equipped with everything you need to fully enjoy a trip for two. Over 7 days, we only needed one refill for water, diesel, and gas, which made the journey even more convenient. I highly recommend this experience — the van has absolutely everything you need. Mel and Annie took the time to explain all the features clearly and were always available if needed. We had a brilliant 9-day road trip with Mel & Annie's Warwick Duo, from Edinburgh up through Glen Coe, the Cairngorms, Inverness, the Applecross peninsula and over to the Isle of Skye, and we can't recommend them highly enough. The van itself is lovingly maintained and perfectly set up for Scotland in early April. The dual gas/electric heating kept us cosy through nights near zero, the layout is genuinely thoughtful, and every system, from water and gas to the fridge and electrics, worked exactly as described. From a pull-off in front of the Three Sisters in Glen Coe, to a sunrise camp on the Trotternish moorland near the Quiraing, to a sea-loch view above Plockton, the van took us absolutely everywhere we wanted to go without complaint. You can tell this isn't a fleet rental but their own home-from-home, and it shows in every detail. The handover in Edinburgh was thorough, warm, and unrushed. Mel walked us through every system with real care, so we left with zero question marks and complete confidence on day one. What really sets Mel & Annie apart is how they show up when something unexpected happens. Late in the trip we spotted that a small water pipe had developed a leak from a mounting clip rubbing against the tubing over time. Classic wear-and-tear, nothing dramatic. Mel was on it within minutes: clear-headed, solution-focused, zero drama. We agreed together to return the van a day early so he could fix it properly at home, and he even offered us a bed for the night in the most generous way imaginable. The same care continued well after the trip. When the one-day refund got stuck in administrative limbo, Mel & Annie chased the matter on our behalf for weeks, with patience and grace, and at one point even offered to absorb a £25 international bank fee themselves rather than let us wait any longer. That level of integrity is genuinely rare and tells you everything you need to know about hosting with them. The van came home clean, refuelled with both diesel and LPG, and beautifully equipped, the way we received it. Mel & Annie are lovely people who treat their renters as partners rather than customers. Die Heizung und Warmwasserbereitung erfolgen über eine Kombination aus Gas und Strom (wir waren Anfang November in den Highlands und es war immer angenehm warm). Die Heizung erwärmt zwangsläufig auch das Wasser, daher muss man, wenn man morgens ohnehin abwäscht, kein Gas oder Strom für die Warmwasserbereitung verwenden. Der Kühlschrank wird von drei Energiequellen betrieben: Motor, Wechselstrom und Gas. Im Gefrierfach blieb ein halber Liter Eiscreme die ganze Zeit gefroren. Auf unserer achttägigen Reise verbrauchten wir am Ende nur weniger als 20 % des Flüssiggastanks und zahlten lediglich 5 Pfund fürs Auffüllen (1 GBP/Liter). Jetzt, wo ich das weiß, würde ich beim nächsten Mal mehr Gas zum Heizen verwenden und mir weniger Gedanken darüber machen, den Kühlschrank über die Lichtmaschine des Motors zu betreiben. Am besten gefiel mir der Herd mit Backofen und Grillfunktion. Schottische Supermärkte haben eine gute Auswahl an Fertigsuppen und -gerichten. An Abenden, an denen ein Pubbesuch nicht möglich war, haben wir Lasagne, Suppe und warmes Brot oder eine Pizza mit Pilzen und Mascarpone zubereitet. Ich hätte diese Gerichte zu Hause nicht besser hinbekommen, vielleicht mit einer etwas längeren Aufwärmzeit. Das Bett ist bequem. Wir haben jede Nacht gut geschlafen. Kleinigkeiten wie eine Handyhalterung für die Navigation und Handy-Ladegeräte waren bereits vorhanden. Trotzdem würde ich Amerikanern empfehlen, immer ein Navigationsgerät mit Warnfunktion zu benutzen und nachts möglichst nicht zu fahren. Die meisten schottischen Straßen, die wir befuhren, waren sehr dunkel, sehr eng und veränderten sich oft innerhalb von Sekunden drastisch. Manchmal führten sie sogar durch Abschnitte, die nur breit genug für ein einzelnes Fahrzeug waren. Der Van fährt sich gut. In 8 Tagen sind wir im Hochland etwa 1200 Meilen gefahren und ich glaube, wir haben 160 Pfund für Diesel ausgegeben (bei 1,40/Liter, glaube ich?). Meine Frau und ich glauben, dass dies unser bisher schönster Urlaub nach 30 gemeinsamen Jahren war, und wir schreiben das zu einem großen Teil dem Wohnmobil und dem Service von Mel & Annie zu. Nous sommes deux jeunes français et avons loué le van 1 semaine pour notre première expérience en van aménagé. C'était fantastique ! Le van est très fonctionnel, il ne manque de rien, tant dans sa conception que dans le matériel qu'il comporte. Nous avions pris l'option literie et serviettes puisque nous sommes venus en avion. La douche intérieure et l'eau chaude sont bien agréables pour l'automne. Melvin et Annie ont bien pris le temps de nous montrer TOUTES les spécificités du van avant de prendre la route. We had a fantastic holiday with Mel and Annie’s campervan. The vehicle is very comfortable, fully equipped, and gave us some truly special days. We’re very grateful to have been able to travel with it and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a complete motorhome experience. That said, we’d also like to share a little about our check-out experience. The day before check-out, we realised we had lost the waste water cap and made sure to buy and replace it ourselves at a specialist shop. This ended up taking longer than expected — the part was difficult to find and, once we did, the mechanic was further delayed — so although we had initially confirmed we’d be back on time, we later sent a message letting them know we would be about 20 minutes late. Unfortunately, we never received a reply. In the end, we arrived roughly 45 minutes late, but since our earlier message had gone unanswered, and we were still focused on finishing the repair, we didn’t send another update. We completely accept that the delay was our responsibility, but it did feel disappointing that the check-out was rushed and a bit awkward, especially as the camper was being moved while we were still inside packing. This was surprising, since when we first arrived we had been told there was no other booking for another two days and that, if needed, we could call and arrive up to two hours later (their booking calendar also showed there was no reservation scheduled during that time). We also understand that the responsibility is ours and we accept paying the deposit, as we already have. Still, it felt uncomfortable that the handover left no space for dialogue, and we would have appreciated the chance to explain the situation in person, rather than only finding out afterwards that the full £150 deposit had been withheld. That being said, we want to highlight again that the campervan itself is great, we felt very comfortable, and we truly enjoyed our trip.
