We spent a very enjoyable 2 weeks in Polaris exploring France 🇫🇷. It is our first time in a motorhome but we have been caravanning around the UK and France for the past 15 years. We have 4 children but were only travelling in the motorhome with 2 of them to start with. They are 16 so we wanted something with enough space for them to have their own area if needed. We also wanted the flexibility to be able to travel with 6 if needed as we were meeting parents abroad and to be able to seat all 8 of us when the older 2 and their partners joined us for the final week. Polaris managed all of this with ease. We made up the rear bed (almost kingsize) and left it out for the whole journey as there was a separate living space at the front. We took a memory foam topper with us, knowing that, no matter how comfortable the seat cushions, when you put them together you can ALWAYS feel the joins 😜! The bed was amazingly comfortable and even with my bad back, we had a great night's sleep every night. The girls (16 year old twins) shared the drop down bed. This is a comfortable, good size double with a proper mattress which we were also able to leave made up and just raise once they were up. This is very slow and needs some gentle encouragement but once it's up, it's out of the way and you can forget about it. However, it is very noisy when travelling as it squeaks on some road surfaces. Annoying at first, but not a problem when you get used to it and not a deal breaker. When the bed is down you can still use the underneath space so we didn't need to clear anything away in order to go to bed which was fabulous. (After caravanning in a 6 berth caravan with 4 children, and needing to put away EVERYTHING in order to get them to bed over the years, this was a game changer!) Polaris was a comfortable ride for all passengers…. We did nearly 2000 miles! The front seats have armrests and are very nice to sit in for long periods of time. The only issue was reaching the handbrake as it is so low down that you need to be prepared to bend right down and the armrest needs to be moved in order to get to it. More of an issue for town driving when there's a bit of stopping and starting but not on the longer drives. The seats also turn around so create extra seating when needed. (We managed all 8 of us to eat lunch when travelling between campsites easily.) The rear seats are arranged as a 4, around a table so the girls were able to play boardgames, cards and watch films on their iPads with ease. They could also doze easily and comfortably if needed. They had a bench seat each so one was travelling backwards but this gave them loads of room. I think it would be a bit squashed for 4 adults to travel great distances in the back but we managed the shorter distances to the supermarket without a problem when we were with the parents. The motorhome came fully equipped for 4 people (and I'm sure 6 if you book for 6) however, knowing we were going to be 8 in the second week, we removed all of this equipment and transferred our own from our caravan into her. The only downside for us in terms of layout was that we were travelling with quite a lot of outdoor equipment (8 chairs, 2 large tables, a gas BBQ, a badminton set - including net, as well as a large 8 man tent for the boys and their partners and their airbeds. Whilst space for carrying this was not a problem for Polaris, it all had to go inside the van when travelling as there is no external access to a 'boot' or garage. As we were keeping the rear bed out, we couldn't access what was a huge amount of storage underneath it either so it all needed to go on our bed. This was a shame as we needed to carry it all through the van every day when we were travelling but, again, did not in any way spoil our adventures. Thankfully, we had also taken an extra blanket so we used this to put everything on in order to keep our bedding clean underneath! The motorhome has a few things internally that are broken or damaged and seems to be held together with white tape 🤣, however this is due to people not treating her with the gentleness and care that any caravan/motorhome needs. This is not the fault of the owner at all and he has done his best to make sure that everything works so that it can be enjoyed. All in all, Polaris was fantastic for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our time away. Our communication with Jay was great and we found him very helpful. As we were travelling abroad we needed a certificate from the DVSA to say we had permission to do this. Goboony did not make it clear that we needed to apply for this and we thought it was done with the booking. This is not the case and it usually takes 2 weeks to come through. However, thanks to Jay, we managed to get one rushed through in 2 days and had it posted as special delivery to arrive on the day before we collected the motorhome. Jay was also very accommodating with our collection time and we were able to leave our car securely parked in the compound for the 2 weeks we were away. He answered all our questions quickly and efficiently and we were shown around the motorhome and given thorough explanations on how things worked. He was also very keen to say we could contact him at any time if there was a problem or just to ask a question if we needed it. This was very reassuring, however thankfully not needed. It was a pleasure to borrow Polaris from Jay and we would definitely recommend this as a great family holiday. Thank you! 😊 August 2025
Reaktion von Jay Thank you so much Melanie for this review. Michelle and I are so pleased that Polaris served your family well whilst vacationing in France. Thank you for taking such good care of here whilst she was in your custody. Thanks again Jay & Michelle
